Aging in Community Class
Five Free Classes: Sundays from 3 to 5 PM
October 23th – November 20th
Longmont Free University - 505 Main Street, Longmont
Each class focuses on one of the five topics listed below. We will spend the first hour discussing and sharing, and the second hour enjoying presentations by community professionals. Topics to be covered are:
Oct. 23: Aging and Place: Visioning your next quadrant of life. Why community elders live longer, healthier, happier lives.
Oct. 30: Those Golden Changes: A humorous but informative look at the physiological, social and psychological changes that often accompanying growing older.
Nov. 6: Spirituality and Eldering: How we can give back our wisdom to the community and continue to learn from our own journey into our later years.
Nov. 13: Living in Elder Cohousing: Creating a community in which we live, learn and age.
Nov. 20: Elder Cohousing at Prospect: An in-depth view of the forming Elder Cohousing neighborhood in Longmont.
This class, facilitated by Kate deLaGrange, MA, will be a group exploration of the benefits, challenges and fun of choosing to live our later years among friends, in mutual support and creating meaningful activities to live life on our own terms.. As we go through the five weeks we, in turn, will be actively building community among ourselves.
